New Braunfels & Gruene

Rivers to float, a legendary dance hall, and the area's biggest restaurants — this is where you take the whole crew when the celebration deserves a full itinerary.

Why couples base here

New Braunfels is the biggest town near the chapel, and its historic Gruene district is the reason to stay: Gruene Hall — Texas's oldest dance hall — the Gristmill perched above the Guadalupe, and a walkable strip of shops and live music that feels like a celebration all on its own.

Where New Braunfels really shines is the room block: river-front hotels solve the where-does-everyone-sleep question in a single booking, private rooms at places like McAdoo's and Muck & Fuss solve dinner, and the days take care of themselves — float the river, ride the slides at Schlitterbahn, land at a beer hall afterward. Nobody in your party will ask "so what do we do now?"

The trade-off is the drive: about thirty minutes to the chapel. Our advice — treat the ceremony as the trip's centerpiece, base everyone here for the fun, and carpool up together on the big day.
